Best OET preparation websites compared: what each one actually gives you
By the MedEngly clinical team, led by a UK based IMG doctor who came through this pathway.
There is no single best OET preparation website; there is a best fit for your exam date, your budget, and the kind of feedback you need. The useful comparison is not features lists but three questions: who marks your Writing and Speaking, how quickly the feedback comes back, and how long your access lasts against your exam date.
Every figure below is as published on each provider's own site and checked on 12 October 2026. Prices change, some sites show sale or regional pricing, and currencies differ, so confirm the current terms on the provider's own site before you buy. MedEngly is one of the providers compared, and this page says so plainly.
Official OET resources
OET publishes free sample tests for Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking at oet.com/ready, alongside a free introductory course and study guides. These are the authoritative source for what the real test looks like and the right place to learn the format. On the OET pages we checked, we found no OET-run service that marks your practice Writing or Speaking; for teaching and feedback, OET points candidates towards teachers and preparation providers.
E2 Language
E2 sells structured courses with live classes and teacher feedback. For nurses it lists five packages, from Express at USD 75.90 for 90 days to Gold at USD 394.90 for 365 days; for doctors, four packages from Express+ at USD 130.90 to Gold at USD 416.90, displayed including Australian GST. Teacher marking comes with the larger tiers: E2 states that its assessments come with teacher-graded feedback on Speaking and Writing within 48 hours, and its package table lists teacher-marked Writing assessments from one on Bronze to three on Gold. The Express tiers list no teacher-marked assessments. A published score guarantee covers Bronze, Silver and Gold, and E2 states the Express tiers carry none. A free trial is available.
Swoosh English
Swoosh sells teacher-led courses listed from $99 (Accelerator, 2 months of access) to $669 (VIP+, 12 months), with the higher tiers including between 5 and 20 teacher writing corrections and the VIP tiers adding one-to-one lessons. A sale banner was showing when we checked, so these figures may not be the regular price. Speaking feedback comes through group mock classes and the one-to-one lessons. A free masterclass is offered.
Benchmark Education
Benchmark lists a free tier with one full Listening and Reading test plus a sample Writing case note and letter and a sample Speaking role play recording, then Essentials at $79 for 3 months, Pro at $99 for 4 months, and Pro Max at $219 for 9 months. Pro includes 4 letter corrections and a Speaking test over Zoom; Pro Max includes 20 letter corrections, 2 Zoom Speaking tests and 2 mock tests with feedback. Marking is by teachers, with a stated 24 hour turnaround for typed letters and 48 hours for handwritten ones. Full mock test packs are sold separately.
PrepareBuddy
PrepareBuddy is an AI practice platform offering full OET practice papers with instant AI scoring, sold largely to institutes as well as individuals. It offers the first month free without a card; after that, pricing is regional and not published on its site.
MedEngly
MedEngly marks Writing letters and Speaking role plays instantly with AI against the published OET criteria, with Speaking practised as a live voice role play with a simulated patient, across all 12 OET professions. The free plan includes one marked letter and one marked role play. Paid packs are one-off payments: Starter at £7.99 (3 marked letters, 3 marked role plays, 3 months of Reading and Listening banks), Exam Sprint at £14.99 (8 and 8, 6 months), and Complete at £29.99 (20 and 20, 12 months), with an optional monthly membership at £12.99.
What MedEngly does not have, stated plainly: no live classes, no human tutor marking your work, and no score guarantee. Every grade is practice feedback based on published OET criteria, not an official evaluation, and transcript-based Speaking marking can only approximate pronunciation.
Who each suits
If you are learning the format, start with OET's own free samples whichever provider you choose. If you want a structured course, live classes, and a teacher's judgement with a guarantee behind it, and you have months rather than weeks, E2 is built for that. If your budget is for teacher corrections of a set number of letters, Benchmark and Swoosh sell exactly that at different price points. If your exam is close and you want to practise and get marked feedback the same evening, on Speaking as well as Writing, MedEngly's instant marking suits that way of working.
Many candidates combine two: a course or a tutor for human judgement, and instant marking for the volume of practice in between.
COMMON QUESTIONS
What is the best website for OET preparation?
It depends on how you prepare and how close your exam is. OET's own site is the best free source for the format. For a structured course with live classes and teacher feedback, E2 Language is the best known option. For instant marked practice in both Writing and Speaking, MedEngly is built for that. Compare on who marks your work, how fast, and how long access lasts.
What is the cheapest way to prepare for OET online?
OET's own sample tests are free. Among paid options checked on 12 October 2026, Benchmark's Essentials course is listed at $79 and E2's Express package for nurses at USD 75.90; MedEngly's packs start at £7.99, though that buys a set number of marked attempts rather than a course. The cheapest choice is the one that marks the subtest you are actually failing.
Which OET preparation websites mark Speaking?
E2 states that its assessments include teacher-graded Speaking feedback, on its larger packages rather than the Express tiers. Benchmark includes Zoom Speaking tests on its Pro tiers, and Swoosh gives Speaking feedback in mock classes and one-to-one lessons on its VIP tiers. MedEngly marks Speaking instantly with AI after a voice role play with a simulated patient. On the OET pages we checked, we found no OET-run practice Speaking marking service.
Is AI marking as good as a teacher for OET?
They do different jobs. A teacher brings trained human judgement, particularly on pronunciation, but feedback takes a day or two and each correction costs more. AI marking is instant and cheap enough for frequent practice, but it is indicative rather than official. Many candidates use both.
